Are all staff trained in caring for residents with dementia?
Beaufort House is a residential/dementia home specialized in dementia care, all staff are trained in dementia and we have 3 dementia champion staff members.
Do residents have a named member of staff who is particularly responsible for their care?
Yes, each resident has a named key worker.
Are residents and their families involved in decisions about their care?
Yes, care planning involves and discussed with next of kin and once agreed the next of kin needs to sigh the care plan agreement.
Is the home linked with a specific GP practise? Do the GP’s visit or do the care staff take them to any necessary or hospital appointments?
All residents are registered in 1 local GP practice and named doctor is assigned to look after all residents and visits the residents with concerns once a week (every Thursday) and any other time when needed. We facilitate hospital appointments and book transport, if next of kin is not available to escort the resident, we send 1 staff member to escort the resident with a charge of £100.00 flat rate regardless of how many hours the appointment will take.
Who decides when a health check-up is needed?
The deputy manager sends the list of residents with concerns and needed to be seen by GP on his Thursday visit. All resident conditions are monitored by care staff and if any concerns are noticed, they inform the Senior carer, deputy manager and home manager. Home manager and Deputy manager decides on plan of action.
Can residents choose their routine, such as bed time and waking up?
Yes! The residents care plan is an all-person-centred care which is designed to cater to each residents’ individual needs.
